Wet/ Impact Area Villaboard/ Hardiflex Linings

    1.   Ceilings: Internal, external & bathroom Ceiling. Both residential and Commercial application:

Sheet Layout

Sheets acrosss the framing members, i.e. place the long edges of the sheets at right angles to the joists or furring channels or where battens are used, across the battens.

Sheets should be laid out in a ‘brick’ or ‘staggered’ pattern so that adjacent butt joints are not located on the same framing member. Locate butt joints on the centre line of a joist or batten. Where joints do not coincide with corners of openings, as joints may crack due to frame movement.

  2.Drywall: sheets – 6.0mm; 9.0mm

-   General walls: Villaboard/ Hardiflex is used for wet areas i.e. bathrooms, laundries, and in similar applications where there is intermittent or continuous exposure to moisture. The cement based Villaboard/ Hardiflex is an ideal substrate for tiles. Other applications include non fire rated hospital wall, smoke containment walls, internal walls in factories, transit areas and school linings, in fact any area subject to hard wear is a potential application for Villaboard/ Hardiflex.

-   Fire Rated Walls:

Fire rated systems for an application are selected on the basis of the required Fire Resistance Levels (FRL) as set out by the BCA in addition to any acoustic requirements.

Fire rated wall systems are constructed from lightweight framing (steel or timber) that is lined on both sides with one layer of Fire Resistant plasterboard and one layer of Villaboard™ Lining

3.Installation

  Ceiling:

Flush Joints (Cocealed Grid Ceiling): should be flush jointed using perforated paper tape embedded in bedding cement and finishied with topping cement.

Cocealed Grid Ceiling

Expansion Joints (Exposed Grid Ceiling): should be provided in internal ceilings exceeding 10.8m x 7.2m

Employs plaster sheet casing beads (plastic or metal) at sheet edges and is used where setting of the edge is not required.

Employs plaster sheet stoopping angles at sheet edges and is used where setting of the sheet edge is required.
